Single-Trip vs Annual Multi-Trip: Which Is Cheaper?

Single-Trip vs Annual Multi-Trip: Which Is Cheaper?

12 September 2026

One of the most common questions we get is whether to buy a single-trip plan or an annual multi-trip plan. The honest answer is: it depends on how often you travel.

How single-trip cover works A single-trip plan covers one specific return trip. It is the cheapest option if you only travel once or twice a year — a short trip to Asia can start from around S$18, and a two-week Europe trip from around S$45 for basic cover.

How annual multi-trip cover works An annual plan covers unlimited trips for a full year, usually with a per-trip duration cap of 30 to 90 days. Prices commonly start from around S$200 a year for Asia-only cover and rise for worldwide cover.

The break-even point As a rule of thumb, annual multi-trip cover becomes better value once you take three or more trips a year. If you already know you will make a couple of regional getaways plus a longer holiday, the annual plan often works out cheaper — and you never have to remember to buy cover before each trip. - 1–2 trips a year: single-trip is usually cheaper - 3+ trips a year: annual multi-trip usually wins - Frequent business travellers: annual is almost always the better choice

Watch the per-trip limit Annual plans cap how long each individual trip can be. If you are planning a single long trip of several months (for example a sabbatical or study abroad), a specialist long-stay single-trip plan is usually the better fit.
